| Bhatkal is one of 57 Karnataka cities in the
Nirmala Nagara - Municipal eGovernance project. On Aug 15th 2005 each
of the 57 cities will get a comprehensive website as well as the Public
Grievance & Redressal module. Other important modules to be
launched by June 2006 are Property
Tax, Financial Accounting GIS Mapping, Birth & Death
Certification, and Ward Works. Nirmala
Nagara project is a partnership between the Urban Development Dept,
eGovernments
Foundation &
Survey of India. These computer based systems coupled with Govt.
process re-engineering and GIS digital mapping will provide
transparency and accountability and smoother delivery of services to
citizens of Karnataka. Your feedback and inputs are greatly

City Budget:
The annual budget of the Town Municipal Council for the year
2006-07 is Rs. 199 lakhs . Out of which Rs. 32 lakhs is
proposed for Repairs and Maintenance, and Rs. 5.5 lakhs
towards the welfare of SC/ST .

Bhatkal
Town is Situtated around 130 Kms from Karwar and about 147 Kms from
Mangalore on NH-17. This Town is located in the
midst of
Western Ghats which has an coastal line covered by the Arabian Sea.
This Town has a boundary of 5.23 Kms and is famous for
Imported
Goods. The total population of this Town is 31,774. Though it is a
small Town, it is well developed by the projects under taken
by KUIDFC. Bhatkal is famous for Ancient
Monuments like Chinnadapalli, an Mosque, Sultan
palli,
Chandranath Basadi, Basti, and a beautiful sight of
Kadavinakatta
dam built across Venkatapur river. Since this is an coastal town
we can also enjoy the sight-seen of sea shore along with lighthouse.
